all of new york state through vermont and new hampshire. some of our big cities, new york city's the trickiest forecast along with long island and coastal connecticut. we're going to go from snow tomorrow morning to a period of rain and heavy rain friday. and then over to a period of heavy snow as the storm leaves late friday night. that's why the storm totals are lower there. but hartford's going to be in the bull's-eye. again, boston, 18 to 24 inches possible. so that would probably cripple boston. travel would be difficult probably till maybe saturday night or maybe sunday morning. make your plan as cordingly. i know airlines are already starting to cancel flights and letting you change stuff for free. go ahead and do that now while you can. more updates throughout the morning here on "morning joe." we're brewed by starbucks. how do you keep an older car running like new? you ask a ford customer. when they tell you that you need your oil changed you got to bring it in. if your tires need to be rotated, you have to get that done as well. jackie, tell me why somebody should br

new york city, they could get upwards of a foot of snow. snow and wind as the system gets off the coast and really starts affecting the northeast. in new england it's a full-out blizzard with 1 to 2 feet of snowfall. you're looking at the start times here. for us, it's friday morning as rain. for areas around new york, it's friday early afternoon. they by friday evening, up into eastern new england. again, significant travel delays for the northeast, probably all out coming to a spot in areas. so just a newsens storm for us, but a full-out blizzard with high winds, a lot of snow, and big-time snow drifts occurring throughout areas of new england. it's not just one storm, but two storms. area of low pressure down to the south. another area of low pressure off to the west around chicago, that will both start merging just as they get past us to the northeast. so we'll never get that merging occurring right here. take a look at storm team 4 radar, quiet, nothing good on right now. the snow or rain will start here for us. areas that could see just a bit of a wintry mix with snow, m

, gun violence victim gabby giffords meets with new york city mayor and gun reform advocate michael bloomberg. they talk about efforts to reportedly pressure the president and congress to act on gun reform. they allow themselves to be photographed meeting. january 4th, two days later, we learn that the police chief of waterbury, connecticut, which is near newtown, has issued a moratorium on gun shows in his town after the sandy hook shootings. and he says why he is doing it. just a few days later, january 8th, gabby giffords, her husband astronaut mark kelly launch a new anti-gun violence group. that same day, a group called the coalition to stop gun violence launches an ad, a political ad targeting newly elected north dakota senator heidi heitkamp for her criticism of potential gun reforms. on january 9th, the very next day, vice president biden meets with gun violence victims groups. they allow themselves to be photographed for meeting. the same day, new york governor andrew cuomo in his state of the state address promises to push for the toughest assault weapons ban in the nation

interests in the city. i'd like to have you go ahead and put that chart up. and leave it up during the course of this hearing because each member up heres a a copy of this. there are certain things that happened we all know. we know on may 22 the red cross was hit with an r.p.g. they left town. we know on june 11, the british ambassador's motorcade was attacked by an r.p.g. they left town. we know on april 10 the united states convoy was hit by an i.e.d. and on june 6, the u.s. consulate was attacked with a bomb and many, many other things. but we stayed. we didn't leave. while i understand the state department has primary responsibility for the protection of american diplomats around the world, i also understand that the defense department plays an important role -- supporting role to this effect. i expect our witnesses to explain today why, given the clear indication -- indicators tanned warnings, threats to the united states interests in benghazi and throughout the north africa were growing was the -- was the defense department not placed on a heightened alert status or adequate
